And fly-rod bassing is not far away. I've taken a late winter canoe trip down the Glover before- totally beautiful river. Didn't fish it though. Anybody have any info or experiences on fishing the Glover for natives?
Thanks

No personal experience, but I have a buddy in Little Rock who's from SE Ok. and had good things to say about it. I'll see if I can get some details. I do know the Caddo River in Arkansas fishes well in winter. It's been quite a few years, but I've had some good days in January down there.

I've fished it some. From my limited experience and short floats, it is a fun area and worth exploring further. Summer months the flow can be reduced the river to a series of small shallow runs and still pools. And heavy rains can blow it out. Still a good area to explore further. Lot's of bluegill as well.

Anyone got any good places I could start wading from? How about the Blue for Smallies? Any good spots to start from?

Last time I went to the Glover it was all google maps and Delorme atlas. Total Deliverance country. Y'all just stay away. I've caught some small smallies at the Blue whilst trout fishing. The most wadable areas are just below the falls.

Hahah, I've only been a handful of times. Earlier last year I went swinging a grey wooly and caught 5 little guys one after the other and some nice fat sunfish, they were awesome of course. My dad used to take us fishing there under the Hwy 3 bridge when we were little but we never explored the rest of the river.

There appear to be some permit requirements to be wary of, especially if you're fishing. www.outdoorsok.com/oklahoma/glover/It does look like fun though... I'm planning a one day float on the Buffalo later in spring.

Note to self: Got to try fly-roddin' for bass on the Caddo this summer, at that upper bridge where Danimal told me to go.

I was thinking we were discussing the Cossatot River at the HWY 246 bridge Jonbo. Either way, Both the Tot and the Caddo are fine streams. There's good access on the Caddo all around the towns of Caddo Gap, Glenwood, and Amity.
