Oh, yeah, I'd forgotten about this thread. Hey, thanks so much, Smallfry and Darrell for coming to my birthday party. I was truly honored. I really enjoyed you guys. And thanks to you all who were there in spirit. The post I made just before I left is kind of funny in retrospect, isn't it? I really had no clue. My birthday's really tomorrow and it hadn't entered my consciousness as of last Saturday. I was like, "Alriiiht. I have to go to Carla's little benefit." Then I walked in and I was like, "Oh, sh!!!"

Sorry I couldn't make it, Jon. I had every intention of being there. My kidneys dictated otherwise. The trip home from LMF Saturday was torture. I did manage to chum the water a bit during the mystery fly. Happy Birthday! I am still going to try to make it back to Little MO before the season ends. Maybe see ya then.

Yeah, guys, thanks! You did not have to think of me at all. I'm honored that you did. I've had a really good time fishing and "Trout Camp" -ing with you. Jeff, sorry to hear you got sick. Come up here some more. We'll take the Lil' Mo' apart. BTW, fellas, today was my actual birthday. I was able to sneak off for the afternoon and fish Beaver's Bend. It was pretty good, especially considering that flow-wise, it's kind of blown out right now. I'll make a report here presently.

With this evenings rains I am guessing its going to get pretty close to capacity in the flood pool. Heck they may wait until it is completely full and run 40,000 again. Wonder what will happen with that new/unfinished bridge? Getting heavy rains north of BB right now. They might wanna start running water out of Hydro dam around the clock. Thats just thinking ahead though.

As the lake fills, each increment of rise holds more water than the last, correct? Maybe that will mitigate, some.

It shows that it will hold like 4.7 inches more of runoff over the entire drainage basin until it is at flood pool. Whatever that means. The should be running water but they aren't. wonder what 10,000 would do??

11 feet equals about 6 inches of rain in the drainage..... tough to get that much, but unfortunately we have seen it before. Flood pool doesn't necessarily mean a flood in the river, but it does increase the odds of a higher release. They opened the gates the last time at 636 feet or about 9 feet above flood pool. Gate flows are at 385 CFS from the spillway, about 3x normal. Lake has come up two feet in the last 20 hours. Uh oh. COE is holding back water on generation due to mild flooding in the downstream drainage. www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/BROK.lakepage.html

As of 5AM, Thursday, March 1:
Lake Elevation is 617.7 ft. (Top of Flood Control Pool is 627.50 ft.) Flood Control Pool is 62.17% full.
My radar and the forecast show the rain pulling out. I think we dodged the bullet, folks, this time.

619 67.16% Flood Control Full as of 1Pm and release has increased to 405 CFM so agree looks like they may have got away with one.... Unless someone flushes the toilet in Honobia ...

Well if you think we're out of the woods, think again. It's only March 2nd and the spring rains are sure to come.

We could be in California (Mudslides, rain, and snow) or Boston (winds, hail, rain, floods) right now...... at least we have a week or two reprieve.

Ouch. Maybe they are trying to get it down before spring break. Was planning on heading up on Sunday for a couple of days.

They've got a way to go before the lake will be usable. I drove by all the boat ramps last weekend and they were closed. This was the marina on Saturday.

Just saw the they are releasing more now. We have a yearly trip planned for this coming weekend. I hope they cut back down before then. I don't have any experience with this situation. We have never had a problem other than the great floods but knew about those way ahead of time. This is happening just days before we arrive.

There have been no gate changes on Spillway according to the USACE website. It looks like they are generating to release the water. Spillway and Evening Hole should still be at about about 410cfs which is 3-4x higher than normal, but still fish-able. Zone 2 and 3 will be very high.

We have never had a problem other than the great floods but knew about those way ahead of time. This is happening just days before we arrive. I don’t know what kind of fisherman you are, or if you’re fly fishing, bait fishing or what, or what your skill level is. Reports I’ve heard say that the fishing is tough right now, even for the guides who fish the river every day. Water level through the park is higher than normal, but clarity is the major issue right now. Some of the best fishing that place ever experienced was right before the first of the two recent floods when flows were 1200 CFS through the park. Water was clear then though. When the water is chocolate milk like it is now, it really throws the bite off. Fish can still be caught, but it’s going to be slow. If catching a big mess of fish is the focal point of the trip and you’re not real confident in your abilities to fish these kind of conditons, I’d maybe consider looking for another spot to go or maybe postponing the trip to a later date. The bite just isn’t gonna be all that good right now.
