Hi to all. Looking to go up to the Blue River for a day with family. The 7 year old went fly fishing for the first time in Estes Park and enjoyed it, so she might fish a bit. I’m wondering what there is for the kids, if anything, while I’m still fishing. I have not located anything on trails looking at websites. I see there is a campground, but it doesn’t look as developed as Beaver’s Bend.
Thanks

The campgrounds are definitely less developed at the Blue River and the bathrooms are fewer and further apart. Each campsite can be a little more secluded though, especially the ones when you go over the river at Hughes Crossing. No picnic tables either.

Get an updated stream status before you go due to recent rains. I heard the water is high and dirty.

Thanks to you both for the info. Sounds like the kiddos won’t have much to do if they aren’t fishing.

They can always pick up sticks and set s— on fire. Almost spewed beer through my nose! LOL! I was going to suggest turning over rocks to look for rattlesnakes. JR

My father-in-law and I went there two years ago we really liked it. the campsites are primitive which is what we like. And secluded enough. we made the mistake and went the week after the fishing derby. This year we're going to go mid-January and try to miss some of the crowds that were all over the place. And like most places the best fishing spot you'll have to hike to.
