I will be in Beavers Bend mid November. Any suggestions to bugs, leaders, technique? Thanks in advance If you aren’t recently familiar with the LMF River, your best bet would be to stop in at Beavers Bend Fly Shop and ask for that information. With all their guides out on a regular basis, that is probably your best source for the latest hot tips. If you want advanced information, call ahead.

We have a guide booked from the fly shop. I did call and got some suggestions, just wanted to see what others may add.

RS2's, size 18-20, gray. I think they represent BWO's in their emergent phase, but they work. Zebra midges, size 20. Generic mayfly nymphs like Pheasant tail, Hare's Ear, Frenchie, Copper John in 16 & 18, bead-headed. Lighter ones and darker ones. Other than that, with the mayfly nymphs, to me it doesn't much matter which specific pattern you use. I also sometimes drag the bottom with a big old Pat's Rubberlegs with one of the smaller patterns trailed off the back and sometimes hook a pretty nice fish with the Pat's. Oh, egg patterns of any sort are always a really good fall-back. I hope this helps.

I personally think hiring a guide is the best thing that you did. They will show you locations and work on your drift and you will get to see some of their choices on flies. Although, I still say it is at least 70% or more on the drift and 30% or less on the fly. In my opinion your actual mileage may vary
