Greetings,
Driving through the park this afternoon I noticed that the stop logs were removed from the section by the swim beach. It does open up some nice real estate for wading / fly fishing. However the stop logs at the fly shop are still in place (at least they were today). The kayak float trips in the park remain open since the water above the fly shop is unchanged with the stop logs in that location still in place.
No update on the fishing this weekend from me on the LMFR. I did fish the Little River with my fly rod, got a couple nice bass, sand bass and a catfish on a size 12 bead head woolly bugger though..... I did locate a spot were there is some opportunities to sight fish to carp. Shallow water, clear enough water and a few carp to make it worth a try. But I am in no way dialed in on the carp fishing with a fly. It is a love / hate relationship with this whole carp thing, mostly hate. Trying to get it all lined up, then have a bluegill take the fly and spoke the carp. Or any dozen other scenarios that can make things go wrong in the attempt.
I will say that on occasion, I can catch a fresh water drum on the fly. Not sight fishing but they will take a streamer along the way. Still this carp thing could be cool. But again, it's the whole thing that they don't cooperate with me!
Maybe another post on your recommendations or best tips on taking carp on the fly.

That’s good to know, Hoss! I really enjoy fishing that stretch of the park when the stop logs are out. I may have to take a day or two of vacation.

It’s was ok, had to change up tactics and track down fish to create opportunities at times, but overall it was a nice cooler day fishing spillway creek.

Isn't 68 degrees kind of warm for upper Spillway Creek at this time of year?

I’m just trying to stay alive. I’m fishing tomorrow then going home for a few days. Should be back Wednesday through the New Year, minus a day or two here and there. Was nice being able to wade Day Use today, although I wish the flow was higher. Could cross at just about any point, even below the riffles.
