Do guides monitor and post on this forum? If yes - I'm looking for advice that I can pay for. I'm so sorry if I'm not following the right protocol. I'm new at this.
I don't really want to fish with someone else's flies or get coached over my shoulder. No disrespect toward the guides is intended - at all. Total admiration, envy and respect from me. But what I love most about fishing is the solitude and the personal challenge. I want to do it myself. I recently hired a guide at LFMR and he was AWESOME. His fee was $225 for a 1/2 day and I paid him $500. Was well worth it to me to learn from him. He also put me on way more fish than I have done my other 3 trips to this river. But I'm not there just to catch fish. I want to learn and figure it out. But wouldn't mind a little fast track. Advice and knowledge would be great. But not on a public forum and not for free. If any guides read this or anyone wants to forward to a guide - I'm their new best friend.
I will provide contact info if any "bites". :-) I'm sorry - could not resist. I'm headed up with my 14 year old son this Sunday for 3 days - it's our first trip together - Father and Son. I'm 66 and he's 14. You do the math on Mom :-). I worked too hard my whole life and it paid off - but at a huge price. I have time and health now - but it's finite - as you learn at this stage of life. I want to make the most of it. I'm pretty sure everyone on this forum understands the value of time on this and the other rivers that enrich our souls.
Hope I haven't offended anyone with this post - just want to cut through the "stuff" and get to the point.
Best,
Larry
