A friend and I made the drive from the Longview area on Sunday to do a little trout fishing. The park wasn’t too terribly crowded, and the fish were fairly cooperative. I caught several browns on dry flies, and my friend had similar results. The Deena was the fly-of-the-day, as it produced numerous rainbows from six inches to eighteen inches. I love how the fish hammer this fly with reckless abandon! One thing I should start doing is to re-tie this fly from time to time because I had a couple of fish break off on the strike. The stop logs are still in place by the fly shop, but they did remove some of them at swim beach bridge. A beautiful day. Renewed my love for the LMF after the zoo experience the week between Christmas and New Year weekends.
