Hey all!! We've only got 4 people helping out so far for the fly fishing portion of the Youth Forestry camp. The Lower Mountain Fork River Foundation helps provide volunteers and we're needing some more bodies to help during casting and taking kids out on the river. It's usually tons of fun and the kids are great. There's a drawing for those volunteering. Gifts include locally tied bass flies and a few other small items. The casting class is from about 10-1130 or so and in the afternoon we take the kids to the river for fishing. Dates are June 12th & 13th.

Hi Smallfry,
So, I will take a look at the LMFR website to get more details. I live and work in Broken Bow but could get one day off (possibly 2) to volunteer. But I need to look at my schedule a bit further. I flyfish enough (too much if you ask my wife) to assist. Anyhow, I'll look further to see if I can help out.
Thanks,
Hoss (Bob Hossenlopp)

Greetings,
I thought I would follow up on my volunteer experience with the Youth Forestry Camp. I did sign up and initially had some trepidation about the whole thing. I can fly fish well enough, but I was not sure when it came to guiding others. However, it did work out as the whole event was well organized, considering your dealing with campers and all. The fly fishing part of the forestry camp consisted of fly fishing casting lessons in the morning and 2 afternoon guided fishing trips with the campers. So for each volunteer, we had one or two campers to guide. The kids were genuinely interested, and to my surprise, we got them onto fish.
Brent Frerck, with the LMFR Foundation, kept us volunteers organized and moving in the right direction throughout the event, which was much appreciated. I found the experience rewarding and to work with these kids and watch them learn was enough to make it all worthwhile. We did have plenty of downtime to do a bit of recon fishing as a bonus. I'd encourage others to consider volunteering next year for this event as well.
