Made another trip to the Baron Fork on Saturday. This time we accessed the river at a super secret access point that I'm not supposed to advertise
Anyway, ended up catching what might be my personal best small mouth on a fly rod to date. Apparently smallmouth bass are pretty feisty fish, because this one, which surely was no more than 1.5 to 2 lbs, gave me a work out on the 6 weight. Fortunately though, small mouth aren't leader shy, so you can use 3x tippet put a lot of pressure on them without having to worry about breaking them off. Water was crystal clear as well and a lot of times you could see the take underwater. It was awesome.
