As I have stated before, I am new to this fishing thing and love learning. I practiced my casting this week at a local pond and caught a couple of panfish. Left my stuff in the jeep for the upcoming weekend trip to BB with my wife. She worked late Friday and I set out the essential gear: waders, boots, chair, snacks, etc.
We got up Saturday morning and finished packing. She asked what are we were driving and I said, "Honey, you choose." Well she started loading her car and I gleefully helped because I was just happy to have her going....
We drove 3+ hours to the EH and I set out my boots and waders then started smiling. She asked what I was laughing at and I told her I left my fishing hat in the jeep, at home. Then I told her my fly rod was with my hat! I tooled over to the Fly Shop in hopes Coach Eddie could rent me one. When I told him my story, and asked if he rented rods, he dryly stated, "No.". My heart sunk, but he was moving toward the equipment room just as he answered and I followed. He told me some fella had left a rod there and I could borrow it. Needless to say, I was willing to borrow a cane pole at that juncture!
I don't know Coach Eddie and Ms Roberta well, but they have always treated me like family. I remember last month when he booked my guided trip answering all my newby questions and being patient. I am sure he shook his head and laughed when he hung up the phone. And Ms Roberta taking the time to ask me about my hat and how there was a personal connection with that.
I could go on and on about other conversations when I have stopped in to buy stuff. Just great people, awesome guides and so kind to knuckleheads like me!

That is a great story. They are such good people and I appreciate you taking the time to share what a positive enterprise the fly shop is and how it contributes in ways both great and small towards helping others appreciate the beauty of the LMF.

We are all so lucky to have them there! They've really helped me along with fly fishing & targeting trout from being a convert bass/multispecies angler. Caught my first flyrod caught trout on a TFO fly rod Eddie sold me, rigged backing, fly line, leader & fly & sure enough a dozen or so poor sloppy casts later into the evening hole, I had my first trout. I make it a point to go by there & see them in person every single time I go up there! Thanks Eddie (Coach) Mrs Roberta for everything yall do for us anglers!
