It's almost time but now the hard decision comes between going to beavers bend and going to the white! Both are 3 hours away for me so I'll have a hard choice

There's just a lot more good water on the white and Norfork and more grassy banks, being more conducive for hoppers. Also, there are way fewer Texans on the White....... hahahahaha!

True that! The Norfork is by far my favorite of the two due to easier access wading and lots of cutts

Hank, Where on the Norfork and white do you venture to? And don't think that us Texans don't fish the Norfork. LOL

I'm not Hank but, speaking of the Norfork, when I went a few years ago, Down below Salesville you can turn down to the river, drive back upstream a mile or so and there's a small park called -something about handicapped or something? Awesome place to flyfish!! I had good luck up by the dam, too. And I'm going back in November! AAAAhhhh! Oh, yeah!! (Lord willing!) We're staying close to Bull Shoals Dam, but the Norfork should be just a hop and a jump. I'm hoping I get to hit it uhh, about twice.

Greenman, I know, I see the license plates! I always try to fish upstream of the Texans. 😁Fishing the golf course side of BSD is my favorite spot on the whole river ( Jonbo, mark my word, brother--- FISH THE DAM!) the State Park USED to be lights out but the implementation of minimum flow killed that riffle. My first big brown was caught here. Still lots of fish here but you need a boat of some kind to fish the other side of the river. I always fish at Rim Shoals and have had very good days here and plenty of mediocre days. This is a massive riffle and best fished at minimum flow, again unless you have a boat to get out to the islands. I have fished at Wildcat and Cotter some but I need to spend more time here. Floating the river opens up endless good spots. I plan on taking the canoe over for a long weekend in a few weeks. Never canoed the White, but I have canoed the Norfork. Magnificent time at low water. Opens up endless wade opportunities and not limited to the Handicap wade access and the dam area. However, from the campsite at the dam, at the very end of the campground, is a very good run with lots of fish. I've had crazy good days at both of these spots. Looking forward to getting some time on the river soon. Btw, largest cutt I've ever seen (Snake River included) came from Rim Shoals on a hopper in August. It was a fat 20" + fish that took a black/pink hopper right out in the middle of the riffle. Cutts like to eat on top.

So Hankinsfly, I guess the State Park and the Dam are not the same thing? I'm definitely gonna take your advice. I just can't picture quite what you're talking about. From what I understand it's scuds/sowbugs and midges that produce the best, although when I fished at Cotter I had pretty good luck with a red-a$$ (think fishing, okay, fishing!).
